Tell us about your greatest success with technology and about a time you would like to forget. |

I would have to say that my greatest success with technology would have to be using
power point presentations as teaching tools. Even with young students, the presentations
help grab their attention during a lesson and keep them focused. They are easy to
create and very helpful.
On the other hand, my biggest failure with technology would have to be the time when I
erased my whole research project. I was in high school and not so sure of computers
just yet. I still don't know what I did, but I lost everything and had to start over. It was
a disaster!!!

I'm becoming more and more grateful for technological advances. Even minor ones!
Now, we don't have to worry about losing entire research papers since most programs
can now auto recover our work.
I agree with you about powerpoint. My sisters, who are now teaching, use this as an
important tool in their teaching process and I know that it will be imperative that I use it
too.

I have to agree with you Amy! Power points are a great tool in the classroom and I really am proud of some of my presentations.
I am especially proud of my math review power points. I keep the power point scrolling all day to display important math facts
and procedures. I find that if the kids are not going to pay attention to me, then they can at least drift off into the scrolling
power point and maybe learn a thing or two. I don't really have a big technology failure, most of my big mistakes are usually
solved with system restore. I do however worry about that big failure that will be irreparable. |

Hello,
I have to agree with Amy and Monica. Power point has been the most reliable,
successful and creative program that has help students, teachers and other professionals
during a presentation. I can only speak for myself, but when it comes to understanding
the content of a subject a porwer point presentation ALWAYS! help.
One of my bad experiences have been the time that I lost my final research paper the
day that was due. I was terrible!! Oh well enough about sad memories. Hopefully that
would never happen again...I hope!

I have very limited knowledge of computers so I hope to learn a lot in this class! I know
how to use the computer for writing papers and internet browsing. Beyond this, I am
completely computer illiterate! I guess my success on computers would be that I use it
to research anything and everything. I can't imagine how I could have written research
papers in undergrad without the internet. My failures on computers is that I haven't
taken the time to maximize the efficacy of computers. I still don't know how to put
together power point presentations, make Excel spreadsheets, etc.

I can relate to Janey. Although I have taken required computer classes and learned how
to do plenty of things with computers, I still feel computer illiterate. Maybe I know my
than what I think or its just an anxiety issue.

The greatest success I have had with technology was using computers to teach math in
my 4th and 5th grade combination class. A mentor teacher helped me develop lessons
and it was great. I was able to teach many levels of math and break away from the
traditional math assignments.
However, my greatest failure with technology was sending an email to a parent that was
intended for a teacher.
Laugh all you want

I have had some great times on the internet. I guess the most memorable
moment was when my daughter went off to college, in Europe. I missed her
so much and telephone calls were expensive. One night I logged on and
there she was. It was so cool.
An embarrassing moment was just the other day. I was typing a reply and
tried to write in referring to principals"...they need focus more"
Well, I missed spelled one of those words. I hope no one noticed. I am a
terrible speller.
